As an outsider coming into the equestrian world, I had two reactions: “Wow! Grand Prix events are amazing!!” and “Wow! This stuff is expensive!!”. Over time, I have come to realize that there are certain costs I can’t control (e.g., veterinary expenses) and certain costs that I can (e.g., show clothes), but I never want to sacrifice quality for affordability.

And I am sure that I am not the only one.

 

When you go into the show ring, the last thing that you want to worry about is what you’re wearing. In fact, what you are wearing should actually make you feel strong, composed, confident, and, well, fabulous!

The rub for me was that as a working parent who was trying to budget, I just didn’t have the time to go from online store to online store or from one boutique to another in Wellington to shop for show clothes at a discount.

 

Fortunately, I had several equestrian friends who graciously passed down their kid's jackets and breeches, which served us for a time until puberty hit, and then I was stuck paying full price for a beautiful show jacket that fit for
about a hot minute. That’s when the thought hit me: if I were to get an inventory of show clothes from equestrians at a modest cost and sell them at a fair and reasonable price, more equestrians could enjoy the benefits of entering the show ring looking (and feeling) like a million bucks without actually having to spend that amount.

And, so, Just for Show was born.
